Special Board Meeting (Continuation): November 24, 2022

I want to thank every constituent who reached out to me and my fellow trustees in a respectful manner to voice their opinions from both sides of the debate as we prepared to vote on the motion on Wearing of Masks for Educators, Staff, and Students at the Special Meeting Board for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board on November 22, 2022, and November 24, 2022.

It is an important part of our democratic system to hear from our constituents in a productive and respectful manner.

The motion as originally written was debated and amended during the meeting. I voted in favour of the motion. The motion did not pass.

I stand by what I said during the election and amended on November 23, 2022:

“Keeping students healthy and our schools open is the top priority. I will advocate that schools extend the mask mandate when appropriate, keep the enhanced cleaning requirements and improve ventilation systems.”

Please consider masking indoors and follow the advice of Ottawa Public Health.

Please note, that the opinions expressed here are entirely my own and do not reflect an official position of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board or the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board of Trustees. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me using my contact form here.
