Committee of the Whole: February 21, 2023
The Committee of the Whole Meeting on the Budget for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board took place on February 21, 2023. Staff brought forward three reports for discussion.
The 2022-2023 Revised Estimates are required by the Ministry of Education requires school boards to approve and submit annual budget estimates by the end of June preceding the beginning of a new school year.
The 2023-2024 Budget Process outlines the budget cycle timelines and processes as well as the anticipated challenges impacting the development of the budget. The key dates for consultation include:
March 27, 2023: Budget process update and academic staffing.
March 28, 2023: Approval of academic staffing.
April 18, 2023: Update, including information on Ministry grants (GSNs).
May 23, 2023: Budget process update.
May 31, 2023: Presentation of the staff-recommended budget.
June 6, 2023: Public delegations, budget debate commences.
June 12, 2023: Budget debate continues.
June 19, 2023: Budget debate (if required) and recommendations to the Board.
June 26, 2023: Board approval of staff-recommended budget.
