Board Meeting: June 23, 2025

The Board meeting for the Ottawa-Carleton District School took place on June 23, 2025. Staff brought forward 2 reports with 3 recommendations for discussion. 

Coming out of the Committee of the Whole meeting on June 3, 2025, I voted against the Notice of Motion, Relationship with the Ottawa Police Services. The motion highlights the value of police as a partner in enhancing school safety and supporting students through positive police involvement. It asserts that managing the relationship with the police is an operational responsibility. The recommendations were carried.

I voted in favour of the recommendations in Report 25-041, Trustee Resignation and Appointment Process. The Trustee positions in Zone 9 and Zone 10 have been vacated. This report recommends following the same process to fill the vacancy as the previous process used to fill a Trustee vacancy. The recommendations were carried.

I voted in favour of the recommendations in Report 25-036, Special Education Plan for 2024 to 2025 and the Special Education Report 2025. The goal of the plan is to provide students, families and employees a fulsome tool to use as a guide and resource when supporting students with special educational needs in the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board through the key areas of focus, learning, wellbeing, and social responsibility. In addition, per Regulation 306, school boards must submit a special education report on the delivery of special education programs and services to the Ministry of Education every two years on the odd years. The report's purpose is to provide the Ministry of Education with a summary of the provision by the school board of special education programs and special education services. The recommendations were carried.
